Exaptation (II)
Project Description:
Exaptation (II) is a generative media artwork that explores the transformation of digital imagery into material objects for audience experience. Using printers, scanners, and coding, the piece creates fictional landscapes shaped by unique, unrepeatable scanner’s glitches. Through this process, the recycled images lose their representational transparency and emerge as tactile, affective objects that engage viewers with their amplified thingness. By disrupting the original context of the images, Exaptation (II) highlights the materiality and autonomy of digital media, encouraging new ways of perceiving and interacting with visual artifacts.
The work was exhibited at El Museo Gallery (Buffalo) in April 2019 as part of the exhibition Media-As-Things.
