Heterotopia Practice
Project Description:
Heterotopia Practice consists of series of drawings inspired by Lawrence Weiner’s work in the Open Air Park Museum in Verzegnis, Italy, where he created a helicopter landing zone at the entrance of Marzona’s Garden. This piece emerged following a one-week artist residency in the villa of renowned art collector Egidio Marzona, situated within his Sculpture Garden.
During the residency, making sketches from my observations of minimalist sculptures and land art—featuring works by artists such as Bruce Nauman, Dan Graham, and Carl Andre—shaped the exploration of how memory and imagination reconstruct places in our absence. The project reflects on the ways spaces are remembered and reimagined, emphasizing the role of subjective perception in defining a location's identity.
Heterotopia Practice was exhibited as part of Minimalism As A Crime Scene (22 March 2014 – 19 April 2014) at Wielka Gallery in Zamek Culture Center, Poznań, Poland. The exhibition was the result of a workshop organized by Dominik Lejman, where six artists invited to visit Marzona’s Art Park in Verzegnis and later explored Marzona’s archive and collection in Berlin.
