Embodied Landscape
Project Description:
Developed as a web-based extension of Embodied Landscape, this project reflects on the history and memory of a lost architectural landmark in Buffalo: The Marble Temple. Built in 1913 as M&T Bank’s former headquarters, the White Marble Temple was an iconic four-story structure renowned for its splendid white marble interiors. Demolished in 1959, its remnants now reside in two locations: as memorials at Baird Point on the University at Buffalo’s North Campus and scattered throughout Buffalo’s Outer Harbor at Wilkeson Pointe Park.
The web-based work reimagines this forgotten architecture by digitally mapping its fragmented history, offering viewers a virtual experience that connects past and present. By reflecting on the Temple's erasure and its dispersed remains, the project invites audiences to engage with its memory, recontextualizing the significance of the site in both personal and collective narratives.
